Certified Play Practitioner & Psychotherapist

Hello there, stranger. I’m Alexander. I imagine you’re here because you have questions you’d like answers to. I don’t have all the answers, but perhaps we can discover them together. If you’ll allow me, I’d love to witness the transformation that can happen when you begin to understand your inner world and learn how to manage it.

As a play practitioner who uses creative mediums, I’ve worked with a wide range of children and youth, including survivors of abuse and grief, those struggling with suicidal and self-harming behaviors, and children with special needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, and developmental delays. Through the power of therapeutic play, children can safely express their fears, anger, sadness—any emotions that might be hidden or suppressed in their everyday lives—giving them a voice in ways that words sometimes cannot. I also collaborate with parents and provide psychoeducation on the importance of attachment and playfulness in the parent-child relationship.

I’ve supported older youth and adults in navigating feelings of shame and self-hatred, toxic and abusive relationships, gender and sexuality issues, and the loss of others or themselves. I adopt a trauma-informed approach and a systemic lens, guided by my training in somatic experiencing and polyvagal theory, while encouraging a stronger brain-body connection through movement and listening to your body’s internal messages for a more holistic healing journey. Whatever you’re seeking, I believe in creating moments where you can feel proud of yourself for the courageous decision to seek professional help.

Before transitioning to full-time counseling in the social service sector, I had the privilege of working in child protection, supporting survivors of child sexual abuse, and providing emotional support to individuals in crisis or experiencing suicidal distress on the Samaritans of Singapore 24-hour hotline and textline. I also took on the responsibility of developing and delivering training programs focused on suicide intervention and prevention, crisis management, and understanding self-harming behaviors.

Outside of the counseling room, you might find me at the corner of a coffee shop writing as an aspiring author, or scouring secondhand shops for toys that might find a home in the playroom.
